Meet the Greats: Fernwood Virtual Lecture Series
For thirty years, Bill Noble has worked as a garden designer and professional in garden preservation. As Director of Preservation for the Garden Conservancy, he was instrumental in the preservation and restoration of dozens of gardens throughout the U.S. As a garden designer, he works with clients to create new gardens or to restore and rehabilitate existing ones. His newly released book from Timber Press, Spirit of Place: The Making of a New England Garden, chronicles the making of his garden in Northwich, Vermont. Bill draws connections between his garden and gardens that inspired it, such as those of the Cornish Artists’ Colony, as well as contemporary gardens he worked with while director of preservation for the Garden Conservancy. Bill’s garden is included in the Smithsonian Institution’s Archive of American Gardens and has been featured in the Garden Conservancy’s Outstanding American Gardens. Bill lectures widely on garden history, design, and preservation.
