Join in a Fernwood tradition started by our founder, Kay Boydston, in this fun hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to make your own stone-like hypertufa trough planter. Hypertufa is created from a mix of cement and organic materials and can be molded into a variety of container shapes ideal for planting an array of plants, from succulents to alpines and dwarf conifers. Each participant will create one trough container to be cured for 2-3 weeks before unmolding. Participants will also have the opportunity to tour the grounds and learn a little Fernwood history while taking a look at some of Kay Boydston’s original trough planters.
