Lawn Alternatives: Disrupting the Sterility of the Modern American Landscape

  • Fernwood Botanical Garden 13988 Range Line Road Niles, MI, 49120 United States (map)

Imagine a self-sustaining lawn that requires little to no maintenance and supports vital insects, birds, reptiles, and mammals. In this program, Fernwood’s horticulturist, Connor Wetzel-Brown, shows you how to ditch your lifeless lawn, with its endless commitment of time, money, water, and chemicals, and transform your outdoor space into a wildlife paradise! You’ll learn how to help reverse the damaging effects of the lawn care industry, how to incorporate beneficial plant species into your landscape, and head outdoors to explore and identify native plants that may be utilized as lawn alternatives.
