Summer Herb Walk & Medicine Making

Program details:

Join herbalist Carly Pinto for a summer stroll through Fernwood’s bountiful gardens and natural areas. During your walk, you’ll learn how to identify seasonal plants, discover the medicine they offer, how to extract and work with their medicine, and maintain a mindful foraging practice. This invaluable session could be the musing that sparks your fire for herbalism and sharing this work with your family and community!

What to expect:

  • Learn to identify 7-10 medicinal plants

  • Learn the steps of safe and ethical foraging

  • Learn to make three remedies with the plants you foraged (supplies and instructions included)

Things to bring:

  • Comfortable, preferably closed-toe, shoes for hiking around varied terrain

  • Water

  • Notepad or some way to take notes

About the instructor:

Carly is a holistic nutritionist, herbalist, and community educator. She is a committed life-long learner. She holds a master’s degree in holistic nutrition from a naturopathic university, and has continued education in traditional western herbalism, functional medicine, and other traditional medical systems.
