In this make and take workshop you’ll learn how to prepare an organic indigo dye vat and use the Japanese art of Shibori to create unique textile patterns. Each participant will receive a 24” square organic cotton bandana to experiment with using their choice of resist items and techniques. Then all will dip their pieces into a group vat and watch as the fabric transforms, like magic, from white to green to blue! We’ll also visit the dye plant section of Fernwood’s herb garden to get a deeper understanding of the history and cultivation of natural color.
*All materials are included. Please consider bringing an apron or wearing dark clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit blue.
